Somehow the previous post was a garbled mess- let's try this again!

My apologies for the lapse in the blog. I didn’t realize how many people are reading on a regular basis. But in all due fairness I’ve been furiously busy rehabbing an upstairs “attic” bedroom, using up about 100 sq. ft. of drywall, several 2 by 4’s,  a 65 lb. tub of drywall compound, too much sanding paper to mention here, 6 gallons of paint, and various other items purchased at the local “home improvement” center.

The work is almost complete- maybe I’ll post a photo here when I’m through. All of the manual labor has given me ample time to think/let my mind run, and of course it always turns to music. I’ve gotten the inspiration for a couple of new songs, one of which I’ve already written. I was taking a lunch break with my girlfriend a couple of days ago and noticed the echo from our voices as we talked- the room has excellent acoustics! I’ll be moving my small studio up there when I’m finished to lay down the demos of the new tunes.

As far as the pic goes, it was from Oct. 6th @ Clifton’s Pizza. Pretty groovy,  eh?

Make sure to come out to Bluegrass Brewing Co. on Fri., Nov. 3rd @ 8:30pm and grab something to eat & have a beer or two. I’ll be playing in the beer garden and sipping on some of BBC’s fine ale- thankful to be taking a break from the laborious task at hand.

ImageMmm...

This is a photo of my foot next to the largest beetle I've ever seen (even in all of the backpacking I've done) that tried to fly in through the door at Big Dave's Outpost on Friday, 7/28. The humidity and precipitation must have brought this big boy out.  I had finished my set and was walking out when someone tried to kick it out of the doorway. So, I picked him up and walked around the corner and placed him under a shrub. I'm still trying to figure out what kind it is. I don't believe it's a "Hercules" but that would be an apt name, given the tremendous strength the creature had in its legs (judging from how it was trying to pry itself loose from my grip around its large shell).

I was all set to go that evening on the patio and one song into the set, the rain started coming down. So, we packed up and moved everything inside. I always get a good crowd at Big Dave's and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Other than the threat of your standard summertime late-afternoon/evening thundershowers (& I've had to reschedule a few outdoor gigs because of them), its been an enjoyable summer season of playing out. Big Dave's is fun; if you haven't made it out, make it a point to (check my schedule). The building that houses the bar used to be a great bar and deli called "Fat Cats". It was here that I first took the stage professionally in my late teen years (no, I wasn't old enough to drink). They always had a great and wide variety of live music. I can't help but go back in my mind to that time whenever I play there.

The pool parties, pizza joints, beer halls and bars have all been fun. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer as well. I hope to see you out at a show before its through!
